Active Galaxies at low and high redshift: Type II quasars, reionization, and other insights from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

Michael Strauss (Princeton)

I will describe the latest results on quasars and active galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. I will start with studies of quasars with z>5.7, and what they can tell us about the epoch of reionization. I will then switch to lower redshift, discussing the nature of Seyfert galaxies, and the presence of luminous quasars obscured by dust. The goal of this work is a determination of the demographics of AGN from low redshift to high.
