Dark Matter Halo Merging and Galaxy Formation

Our current best-bet theory of cosmology predicts that
mergers should play an important role in galaxy formation. I will
discuss some general predictions of this theory, and focus on the
effects of merging on galactic disk formation, and in the production
of diffuse light around galaxies and galaxy clusters.
